DIY Stain Remover

Equipment

  • dark colored spray bottle
  • Funnel

Materials

  • 1 cup Hydrogen peroxide
  • 1/2 cup Dish detergent

Instructions

  • Pour both peroxide and dish detergent into a dark colored spray bottle using a funnel. Twist on the spray bottle nozzle and gently mix the contents in the bottle by flipping the bottle upside down and back up.
  • Spray directly on stains and allow to penetrate stain for up to 30 minutes. For tough stains sprinkle a bit of baking soda on stain after spraying. Use a toothbrush to work the stain remover into the fabric and allow to sit for 30 minutes. Launder as usual and repeat if stain persists.

Notes

Always test on an inconspicuous part of your garment to check for color fastness 24 hours prior to usage.
Make sure you use a dish detergent that has a degreaser such as Palmolive or Dawn dishwashing detergent for the best results.
Store your stain remover spray in a dark colored or opaque bottle. When hydrogen peroxide is exposed to light (including household light), it loses its effectiveness.
Be sure to use a fresh bottle of peroxide. Using an old one will not be as effective.
